GDPR Introduction:
At Home Sweet Paws, I am committed to maintaining the trust of my clients by handling their personal data responsibly and protecting their rights to data protection under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This policy outlines how I collect, process, and protect your personal data as a pet sitter service.
Personal Data I Collect:
I may collect the following personal data from my clients and their pets:
- Identifying Information: Full name, email address, phone number, and postal address of my client.
- Contact Details: Information about your pet, including breed, age, weight, and any health issues.
- Special Diets or Needs: Information about your pet’s diet, allergies, or any specific needs.
- Payment Details: Information about payment methods, however I do not store any client bank account or credit card details on my site.
How I Use Your Personal Data:
I primarily use your personal data to provide pet sitting services. The data collected will be processed for the following purposes:
- Service Booking and Provision: To process your booking, schedule and provide pet sitting services.
- Health and Safety: To identify potential allergies or health issues that may impact your pet’s well-being.
- Payment and Refund: To manage payment transactions and process refunds.
- Communication: To contact you with updates, notifications, and other important messages.
How I Store Your Personal Data:
I store your personal data in a secure database within the European Economic Area (EEA), using industry-standard encryption methods to protect your data. Access to your personal data is restricted to myself and contractors of Home Sweet Paws.
Who Has Access to Your Personal Data:
- Staff: I have access to your personal data.
- Contractors: My contractors, such as veterinarians, may have access to your personal data on a need-to-know basis.
- Service Providers: I engage service providers, such as IT support, to access your personal data to perform their functions.
Your Rights under GDPR:
You have the following rights to your personal data under the GDPR:
- Right to Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
- Right to Rectification: Request correction of any inaccuracies in your personal data.
- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data.
- Right to Restriction: Request restriction of processing of your personal data.

Home Sweet Paws – Terms and Conditions:
By booking with Home Sweet Paws, you agree to the following terms and conditions with Sara Birmingham:
General Care and Responsibilities:
1.1. Dog Walks
All walks are conducted on-lead, unless you inform me otherwise in writing before the service begins, off-lead will only be used if the dog(s) have full recall without distraction and then only if deemed safe and appropriate.
1.2. Emergency Veterinary Care
In the event of a medical emergency, you authorise me to take your animal(s) to your vet or the nearest veterinarian. You agree to cover all associated costs, including medical fees, transportation, and any additional charges.
1.3. Medication Administration
If your animal(s) require medication, you must provide clear instructions regarding the type, dosage, and schedule. By booking, you authorise me to administer medication as directed.
Payments and Refunds:
2.1. Payment Terms
Full payment is required at the time of booking via the website, using a valid credit or debit card.
Appointments remain in a ‘pending’ status until confirmed by me. Appointments must be confirmed before the service can start.
2.2. Refund Policy
I completely understand that plans and circumstances may change after making a booking. Please get in touch with me and I can make alternative arrangements or cancel the appointment on your behalf.
If I withdraw it’s always fully refundable.
2.2.1 For pet sitting service (overnight & day sit)
Within 60 days of Start Date: Cancellations made by you within & including 60 days of the scheduled pet sitting service are non-refundable.
Outside the 60 day Time Limit: Refunds are available for cancellations made more than 60 days before the service start date; however, a 50% administrative fee will be deducted from the refunded amount.
2.2.2 For all other services (pop ins, dog walks)
Within 30 days of Start Date: Cancellations made by you within & including 30 days of the scheduled service are non-refundable.
Outside the 30 day Time Limit: Refunds are available for cancellations made more than 30 days before the service start date; however, a 50% administrative fee will be deducted from the refunded amount.
Bookings and Availability:
3.1. Packs
All packs need to be fully completed and signed before the service starts for insurance purposes. If it is not completed before the start date, your service is at risk and maybe cancelled.
3.2. Future Bookings
Dog sitting services can be booked up to 1 year in advance.
All other services can be booked up to 60 days in advance.
3.3. Pending Appointments
All appointments are considered ‘pending’ until confirmed by me.
3.4. Enhanced services for overnight stays
On the overnight arrival day, the service will start at 4pm unless enhanced services have been booked for this day. On the overnight departure day, the service will finish at 8am unless enhanced services have been booked for this day.
Obligations:
4.1. You are responsible for providing all necessary supplies for the care of your animals(s), including food, leashes, medications, and any special items.
4.2. You must inform me of any behavioral or health concerns your animals(s) may have prior to the start of the service.
4.3. I will make every effort to accommodate your requests, but cannot guarantee specific outcomes due to unforeseen circumstances.
4.4. You are responsible for informing me of any internal and external cameras you may have fitted prior to my visits, this includes any new cameras you may have in place at the start of services since I last visited.
Liability:
5.1. I am not liable for any injury, illness, or loss of your animal(s) resulting from circumstances beyond my control, such as pre-existing medical conditions or unforeseeable accidents.
5.2. You are responsible for any damage or harm caused by your animal(s) to property, people, or other animals during the service.
